What is a good FICO Credit Score for a mortgage?

I’m not going to go into details on this section but to qualify for the best interest rate a good credit score is considered to be 740 or above. That should be your goal.
Now, if you opted for the 3 credit reports from credit.com you are going to see a credit score section that tells you what your credit score is from each credit reporting company that also can be found at freecreditscore.com. This credit score is useless, banks and mortgage companies look at your FICO score and the only place to get your fico score is at myfico.com. See What is the difference from fico and fako scores.
Yes it is going to cost you, but it is well worth it. I signed up for myfico.com and credit.com years ago and sill have them. I like to know what’s going on with my credit at all times, especially in our days and I like to keep a good credit score.

Ok, back to your credit score. In order to get the best rate mortgage lenders are looking for what is considered to be a good credit score of a Fico 740+.
But at the same time they are looking at you debt to income ratio. We will cover debt to income ratio on the next section.
